Martin McIntyre
The proprietor of SISM, Martin McIntyre, has impressive qualifications and experience in this specialized field including MSc Sports Injury (Medicine); University of Sheffield, MSc Gaelic football; Institute of Technology Tralee, BSc(Hons) Sports Science; John Moores University, H.Dip Science and Football; John Moores University. Martin has worked with Kerry Senior, U21 and Minor Development squads since 1997, including Cavan and Clare Senior Footballers, Kerry Ladies Senior Football Team, Kilkenny City F.C. and Middlesborough F.C. and a number of club teams including An Gaeltacht, Dr Crokes. Martin extended his experience when employed by Institute of Technology, Tralee and managed the Sport, Health Performance Evaluation Centre (SHaPE) at the ITT. He is a leading researcher in Gaelic Football and Soccer with a number of publications in the British Journal of Sports Medicine and Journal of Sports Sciences. Martin is currently working with Roscommon Senior Football Team, having been very successful in winning an All Ireland Final in 2006 at Minor Level alongside Fergal O Donnell when he trained the team.
While based in IT Tralee, Martin managed the 'SHaPE' centre which is a state of the art performance evaluation centre and leisure centre and duties included:
- Lectured on Advanced Performance Training during current academic year.
- Taught and provided assessment in Human Performance and Evaluation.
- Manage and develop the facility in the areas of performance evaluation, health and fitness, exercise physiology, sports biomechanics and sports psychology.
- Daily and strategic development of the SHaPE Centre @ I.T.T.
- Supervision of 2nd, 3rd, 4th and final year projects.
- Undertake research and supervision of data collection for research purposes.
The centre was equipped with circa €200,000 worth of equipment in the area of sports injury rehabilitation, sports medicine, sports conditioning. Martin supervised and was involved in:
- the prescription, implementation and delivery of injury rehabilitation programs in conjunction with team training programs.
- the areas of sports specific physiological and fitness assessment.
- prescription, implementation and delivery of sports specific endurance, power and strength training programs.
- the delivery and monitoring of training and match day sports specific nutritional strategies.
- the co-ordination and delivery of match day preparation and recovery (warm up, cool down and post match recovery).

Roscommon minor footballers (All-Ireland winners 2006), Kilkenny City FC, Limerick City FC, Kerry Senior Football Team (All-Ireland Winners 1997, 2000, 2004), Kerry U-17 development squad, Institute of Technology Tralee (Sigerson Cup winners 1999, 2000, 2001), Kerry Hurling Team, Kerry Ladies Football Team, Clare, Cavan, Keirins O Rahillys (County Senior Champions 2002), An Gaeltacht (County Senior Champions, 2001, 2003, All-Ireland Club Finalists 2003), Milltown Castlemaine, Co Kerry (Division 1 County League Winners 2002, Intermediate County Winners 2003), Luane Rangers (All-Ireland Club Champions 1998), Glenflesk, St. Brendans, Skellig Rangers, Crommane, Rathmore, Austin Stacks, Currow. Other sports include Killorglin Cycling Club, Castleisland Athletics Club, Members of the Irish Cycling Team, Members of the World Youth Championships 2003.
